Examples of Motor Supports & Accommodations

  • Examples of motor coaching supports to provide an inclusive environment:

    • verbal, visual, and tactile cues

    • alternative tools (e.g., hands, adaptive scissors, pencil grips, etc.)

    • physical demonstrations (modeling)

    • modifications of activities/exercises (e.g., standing vs. seated)

    • facilitate activities with crossing midline (promotes motor coordination)

    • use of stable surfaces for support with balance challenges (wall, chair, table, etc.)

    • verbalize sequence of steps (motor planning)

    • aid in initiation of movements to support motor planning
