Interoception

The Interoceptive system detects and processes internal bodily states (e.g., hunger, thirst, pain, need to urinate or have a bowel movement).

Why does it matter?

For many Autistic children, interoception is a challenging concept to understand and process. Thus, it is imperative to teach Autistic children about interoception, body awareness, and how to understand, manage, and respond to their internal bodily signals.

This is especially important for Autistic children that struggle with recognizing their bodily signals as they experience different body sensations compared to neurotypical children and have a challenging time expressing their emotions and or needs.

  • All the FeelZzz is a program developed by Autism Level Up for and with input from the Autistic community.

It was designed to represent the different body sensations that Autistic individuals feel compared to neurotypical individuals by providing representations that are more complex, subtle, and or multidimensional of feels that resonate more with Autistic individuals.
